Every domain tells the same story, and the numbers are not close.
The sun delivers roughly 6,200 times humanity’s annual energy consumption — while 730 million people live without electricity, and Africa holds about 60% of the world’s best solar potential and 1% of its installed capacity. We grow around 11 billion tonnes of food a year for 8 billion people, waste 1.05 billion of them, and 673 million go hungry. Water covers the planet; 2.1 billion people lack safe access, and the fix costs about 1% of global GDP. Knowledge has a marginal cost of zero; 273 million children are out of school.

This is not a supply problem
Read that list again and notice what is missing from it. Not a single one of those deficits is a shortage of the resource. Every one of them is a failure to move it — capital that won’t reach the grid, food that rots between the field and the city, treatment that exists in one country and not the next.
Scarcity, in almost every case that matters, is a distribution problem wearing a costume. And a distribution problem is a coordination problem. And a coordination problem is the one category of problem that intelligence is actually good at.
Why more intelligence hasn’t fixed it
Because of where the intelligence sits. Centralised intelligence plus abundant resources produces artificial scarcity — it optimises for whoever owns the centre. Distributed intelligence plus the same abundant resources produces the other outcome. Same inputs. The topology is the variable.
That is the whole thesis, and it is falsifiable. If distributing the coordination layer doesn’t move the deficits, I am wrong.
What follows from it
If scarcity is engineered rather than natural, then abundance is not utopian — it is a debugging exercise with a very large scope. That reframes the work. You stop asking how to produce more and start asking what is blocking what already exists.
One of the laws I wrote says it more plainly than I can here: abundance is the natural state; scarcity comes from access, not potential. I did not write that as consolation. I wrote it as a specification.
